Compliance Glossary for Confluence

Does evidence survive source deletion?

Yes, if the page was frozen first. An enterprise freeze stores the page body in app storage with its exact revision, SHA-256 hash, usages, and findings. Deleting the live page does not remove that frozen copy. Verification checks the stored copy only. It does not look at the live page, so it never reports the deletion itself.

How it works

  1. Before deletion, open Terminology Baseline.
  2. Use Create enterprise freeze and select Prepare and queue freeze.
  3. Review Freeze progress and Coverage blockers.
  4. Select Run verification and keep the summary line.
  5. After deletion, use Search deposited evidence or the Artifact filter.
  6. Read Revision, SHA-256, and Availability in Frozen meanings and revisions.
  7. Record the deletion in your own change log. The app does not report it.

Example

A policy page is captured at revision 12. Its canonical body and hash enter the enterprise freeze. The live page is later deleted. The frozen revision stays searchable while its stored object is present. Run verification still reports a match, because it checks the stored copy. If capture never completed, the app cannot rebuild revision 12.

What this does not mean

Evidence survival is conditional. Capture must finish before source deletion. The stored objects must remain in app storage. The app does not detect or report live-page deletion. It does not restore a deleted Confluence page. It does not provide a backup, legal WORM storage, enforced legal hold, or guaranteed indefinite retention.
